- Abstract
- The appearance of large conceptual works containing an unconventional interpretation of current problems of Russian history, made on the basis of the use of original methods and the involvement of new categories of sources, serves as a good incentive for the development of scientific discussions. In connection with the publication of the monograph by B. N. Mironov "The welfare of the population and the Revolution in Imperial Russia: the XVIII-beginning of the XX century" (Moscow: Novy Chronograf, 2010. 911. S.: ill., tab.) The editorial board, following the tradition established in the journal, appealed to a wide range of domestic and foreign specialists to participate in the discussion of both the problems posed in this extensive study and the solutions proposed by them. On the initiative of the editorial Board responded V. P. Buldakov, V. B. Zhiromskaya, N. And. Ivanov, V. I. Potkin (the Institute of Russian history of Russian Academy of Sciences), M. A. Davydov (Russian state humanitarian University), L. V. Volkov (vniidad), M. D. Karpachev (Voronezh state University), O. N. Kationov (Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University), Yanni Kotsonis (New York University, USA), S. V. Kulikov (Saint Petersburg Institute of History, Russian Academy of Sciences), A. A. Kurenyshev (State Historical Museum, Moscow), T. G. Leontieva (Tver State University), I. V. Mikhailov (University: MGIMO), I. V. Berezhnikov (Institute of History and Archaeology, Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences), Gregory L. Freese (Brandeis University, USA), P. P. Shcherbinin (Tambov State University named after G. R. Derzhavina). The responses received by the editorial board are published below, systematized taking into account the main directions of the discussion.
