- Abstract
- The subject of consideration in this work is nine works of the first posthumous publication of works by A. P. Sumarokov, carried out in 1779 by N. I. Novikov in the February issue of the magazine "Fashion Monthly Edition". Their genre designation - "Arias", they have continuous numbering from one to nine, in the title of each is the name of the character. Their escort - six epigrams and a translation of the sixth phenomenon of the fourth act of the tragedy of J. Racine "Phaedra". The section ends with a note from the publisher: "Arias, epigrams and this translation - the works of A. P. Sumarokov." All works from this collection were included in different parts of the "Complete collection of all works ..." Sumarokov, published by N. I. Novikov in 1781— 1782 years. The arias are placed in the section of the eighth part "Theatrical songs". Doris's aria "Trembles and Tears ..." was reprinted twice in the 20th century. N. Berkov assumed that these arias were translations, but such an idea of them was not widespread, and the originals of the translations have not been determined until now. The purpose of the proposed work is to indicate the sources of translations and to present a hypothesis about their dating and place in the creative heritage of Sumarokov.
