Abstract
The article considers complex issues, affecting the organization and management of fishing by Russian and Japanese in the Far Eastern waters of the Russian Empire after the Russian-Japanese war (1905). The paper is based on the Russian and Japanese historical documents and other sources. The author shows the role of the Japan fishing associations in the coordination of Russian and Japanese industry interests. The article also examines the cooperation arrangements between Russian and Japanese fishermen, the reasons for the failure of such cooperation, the role of the Russian fishery surveillance in the protection of economic interests of the State.
