- Abstract
Due to the warm and humid climate, fertility of the land, abundance of water and mineral resources, the Yangtze basin has become one of the important areas of distribution and development of Chinese civilization. The benefits of the geographical position contributed to the fact that at the end of the XIX century. in its delta, foreign capital preferred to accumulate. Along the Yangtze, an 8-year-old Japanese aggression and a 4-year Civil War unfolded. Here, in the years of the first two successful five-year plans, the consequences of the post-war devastation were eliminated and important objects of metallurgy, mechanical engineering, energy, and a bridge over the Yangtze were created with the help of the USSR. On this foundation in the future, over 40 years of reform and opening up, a successful transition has been made in this region from industrialization, with the dominance of its primary and secondary spheres, to high-tech production.
